A quick and easy necklace I made just for fun. My friend has been looking for a glittery peace sign necklace so I decided to make him one. i know there is a lot of steps so it looks difficult but its really simple and fast. It takes a long time because you have to allow it to dry between coats. I also added many steps so you can see detailed pictures since im horrible at explaining things.

Description

A quick and easy necklace I made just for fun. My friend has been looking for a glittery peace sign necklace so I decided to make him one. i know there is a lot of steps so it looks difficult but its really simple and fast. It takes a long time because you have to allow it to dry between coats. I also added many steps so you can see detailed pictures since im horrible at explaining things.

Instructions

  1. Small img 1829 1292717214

First you pick your image and print it out on card stock. You will need at least 3 of the image. You can use more if you want it to be thicker. NOTE: If your image isn't intricate you can print one out and just cut plain card stock in the same shape.

  2. Small img 1830 1292717368

This is what it should look like after you have cut them out.

  3. Small img 1834 1292717457

You then align all three shapes and begin adding mod podge to stick them together. You can use glue but I find that the mod podge seals everything better.

  4. Small img 1838 1292717559

Allow them to dry and then re apply mod podge all over just to seal it all together. After it is all dry it should look thick like this.

  5. Small img 1843 1292717650

You will need some sort of wire. I just picked up this pink one at the craft store. You punch a hole at the top of you image and you will loop it through to create a jumper for your chain.

  6. Small img 1845 1292717738

It should look like this after you have looped it through. You can skip the wire and use twine or thread or even make it much nicer and use an actual jumper! I just made this with household items.

  7. Small img 1847 1292717961

Now you cover the front or the entire image with mod podge to allow a sticky base for the glitter. Its really up to you where you want the glitter to be. I just added it to the front. You can use glue. but i like mod podge because it dries quicker and clear.

You then add whatever color glitter you would like and allow it to dry completely. You will notice that after the glitter has dried it will somewhat fall off if you shake it too much. We don't want that. so you apply a thick layer of mod podge on top. Allow to dry. i left it overnight just to be safe. NOTE: I used a glossy mod podge and it kinda made the glitter awkward. It looks better if you use a matte one. Or skip the glitter completely if you don't want the 3d effect and use glitter mod podge.

While all of this is drying you can use whatever yo have on hand to create a "chain." If you have a few extra bucks you can even buy a real chain and make look all fancy! lol But i just used this friendship bracelet twine and braided it.

Now you just loop it through the top and then you have a necklace! i just tied a loop at the top and a thick knot at the other end to keep the necklace from falling off while wearing it. Its better than a tying it in a knot cuz you can adjust it! enjoy!
