Description

I dreamed about a necklace like this a couple of nights ago and decided to give it a shot.

Instructions

  1. Small bird1 1274807112

Find some bird images you like and trace the silhouette on to paper. I googled some and then traced them straight from the screen - it works well like a lightbox.

  2. Small bird2 1274807219

Carefully cut out the birdie templates.

  3. Small bird3 1274807310

Place lots of little dots of blue tack on the back of the templates.

  4. Small bird3a 1274807916

Stick the templates down on to black shrink plastic.

  5. Small bird4 1274807863

Carefully cut out the shrink plastic bird, cutting around the paper template.

  6. Small bird4a 1274807875

Lay out the birds like you'd like them on your necklace and work out where you need to punch holes. Remember you will need holes to attach them to each other and to attach them to the ribbon.

  7. Small bird5 1274807963

I punched a small hole on the middle bird's beak so that I can add a charm.

  8. Small bird6 1274808176

Shrink down your birds in an oven until small, making sure to squish them flat after.

  9. Small bird7 1274808203

Attach a small length of wire through the wing of your first bird.

  10. Small bird8 1274808239

Thread on some red seed beads and attach to the second bird.

  11. Small bird9 1274808330

Attach the third bird in the same way and slip two jump rings on to the outer rings.

  12. Small charm 1274808608

Add a small charm to the middle bird's beak if you want.

  13. Small necklace 1274808515

You can now attach this to a necklace chain but I decided to make two small cord loops and then attach it to a ribbon, as I'm allergic to nickel.
