Using painter's tape, mask off the pattern you have decided upon. I was going with simple stripes.
Using a pouncer brush, start filling in your blocked off spaces with the acrylic paint.
I wanted to carry the stripes along the handles but didn't want paint to possibly rub off and onto my clothing, so I sewed black ribbon in even intervals all along the handles.
My final step was the gold shimmer at the bottom, which I spray painted with fabric paint.
