This $3 Thrift store shirt was just too small, but I loved the bright, vivid pattern. So after a short pout, I decided to try and create a purse. This was just a wild idea and trial run. I love it! Very comfy, slouchy, and colorful. I do think this particular style was perfect as it's stretchy and it hides mistakes and the seams under the arms of the shirt. I know there are people who can do better, I would love to see your versions so that I can get new ideas!

Yup, this is the shirt. Beautiful, bright stretchy material... perfect.
I also used some left over T-shirt fabric, leftover beaded fringe, and leather pieces from shoes I turned into sweater boots and a few buttons I had.
I used the left over black T-shirt material to make the lining. The material is so stretchy in the shirt, it needed some extra support. Just measure it off to the size of the shirt and make a pouch.
Cut off the neck of the shirt,NOT the sleeves. These will stay right where they are and become the strap to your purse. Insert the lining into the shirt and pin.
Sew in the lining. *Important note, when you get to the sleeves, just sew right through them so they lay flat.
At the bottom, I pulled down the T-shirt liner, added my bit o'bauble and sewed it straight across.
Putting one sleeve just inside the cuff of the other, sew them together across the top.
Too add some extra style, I used leftover leather strips and buttons from a few other projects and used them to "bunch" the strap. I also basted up the sides of the shirt and pulled the baste to add a ruched look to the sides.
All done and cat approved! ;)
