I absolutely love scarves...and ruffles! So why not put them together! I'd seen one of these scarves in the store recently (w/o the fringe), but didn't buy it. I decided to make my own!
I absolutely love scarves...and ruffles! So why not put them together! I'd seen one of these scarves in the store recently (w/o the fringe), but didn't buy it. I decided to make my own!
Cut the t-shirt following Steps 1-3 in the picture.You should have two long pieces.
Line the two pieces together evenly and sew the edge at one end. You should have one very long piece.
Set your sewing machine at the highest tension in a straight stitch. The elastic thread should be in the bobbin and all purpose thread is on top. Start sewing about 3-5 inches from the top, depending on how long you want the fringe to be. Stop sewing about 3-5 inches from the bottom. You will shirr two lines on the right and left sides.
When you finish shirring, line up both ends.
Cut the ends into strips.
On one side, pull the strips down to create the fringe. Don't pull too hard!:)Take the strips, two at a time, and tie into a knot. Repeat on the opposite side.
Here's the finished product!
