Grab all your materials! I used this earthy cream rope because it looks natural BUT if you like somthing more colourful use ribbon or any other string or even leather strips! IF you go the sea pick uo different shells it will make you "suncatcher" just a bit more intresting & only pick up thos with holes in it already because it is almost impossible to make holes in it yourself. I used a 2 x 32 cm piece of wood, but again, you can use any size.
Take your piece of wood and round the corners with som sandpaper. For the next part I suggest you you ask someone to help you if you can't drill holes yourself. Space the holes evenly, I used 5 holes. Paint the wood the colour of your choice, or just varnish it. I used a waterbased paint called white wash, wish makes the wood look white but the texture can still be seen.(Great natural look) Let it dry.
Decide on the length of your "suncatcher". I would suggest that you place the shells in the order you would like them before you tie them together.
Cut the string, leather etc. in piece of 10cm and 2 longer pieces which you will tie at the top. Tie the 1 of the 2 longer pieces in the end hole and the other longer piece on the other end. Tie the 2 pieces together which will form a triangle.
Take your pieces of string and begin to tie them together. Do n0t space them evenly, rather go for the more natural look and just tie them together.
Tie your long pieces of string & shells in each hole, even on the end ones. Viola!
