Silly me didn't take any pictures through the process because it was just a mere experiment. And I might not have any good picture proof in the end. But I PROMISE you that this method WORKS! Disclaimer though: I'm NOT a professional hair person and I'm not responsible for experiments gone wrong. Kaythanksbye.

Sooooooooooooo I've had an insane hair dyeing history. Due to the condition of my hair, however, last december I decided to stop using dye alltogether (apart, obviously, from my bangs. I tried but I just can't live without a bit of colour!) Since I have dyed my hair red a gazillion times however, from my ears down I had a crapload of red pigments in my naturally muddy brown hair. It wasn't too horrible because the gradient between dyed and natural was astonishingly smooth. I wanted to get rid of it anyways.
So I did a lot of research, and the vast majority of the internet told me to strip my hair chemically. No, thanks. I did however read that green pigments can cancel out red pigments due to some scientific reasons of random.
I happened to have a whole pot of LaRiche Directions Ebony at home, a colour that is supposed to be black but is in fact a VERY dark and highly pigmented green. Since I was planning to dye my whole head, I didn't want to use the colour undiluted... so what I did was...
get a clean yoghurt cup, fill it completely up with cheap store-brand conditioner and add LESS THAN A TEASPOON of the Ebony. I swear it wasn't more. Look at the pic to see how incredibly pigmented the colour has to be to get this result at the used amounts. What you see is the product I have LEFT after dying my whole head. So all in all I used less than half a teaspoon of Colour. At this rate, the colour will last months. :D
I then just washed my hair and treated it to a full hour of colouring-conditioning. By the way... Guys, for the love of everything that is holy, use gloves whenever you use directions. They stain. BAD! (On that note, also be aware that directions might stain any bathtub or shower mats you might have, even after washing your hair three times!)
I was almost hoping my hair would be greenish in the end, like a subtle petrol. Sadly FOR ME, that didn't happen. So for those of you who aren't into crazy colours, the measurements I used would be perfect. I, however, will be trying again with more colour. My hair is now pretty similar all the way down, slightly darker than before and of course the tips are way darker than before. There is no visible difference between tips and roots. :) I'm sorry I don't have before&after shots. :(
