I thought I'd make a needle and scissors holder after seeing a project here the other day. Fortunately I had some fabric left that matched my pin cushion, and they look really good together. The button and buttonhole tag are optional, and I cut them from an old pair of trousers, sewing the tag in the pocket fold at the side (see photos)

First work out a pattern to suit your individual needs (number of pockets along the width and depth of pocket needed) and cut out a rectangle of fabric. Hem all four edges. Fold the bottom up as shown to create a long pocket along the bottom.
Sew along the bold lines using a straight stitch to create your pockets. Don't forget to sew up the sides of the end pockets! I made a wider pocket for scissors, a few for dressmakers pencils and seam ripper, and a big one for thimble/tape measure. The needles can be kept on the front of the large pocket. The top section folds down as shown to cover the pockets, and the whole thing can then roll up neatly.
I then decorated the roll with the button for closure and added the beads.
