Description

Seed beads can seem intimidating because they are so small, but with a bit of basic jewellery making knowledge you can make this dramatic fringed necklace with them.

Instructions

  1. Small 107027 2f2015 01 22 165546 beaded%2bfring%2bnecklace 2

Take 15 of the purple bead and thread onto a headpin. Using your roundnose pliers, make a plain loop and trim off the excess wire.

  2. Small 107027 2f2015 01 22 165644 beaded%2bfring%2bnecklace 3

Repeat step 1 until you have 5x dangles.

  3. Small 107027 2f2015 01 22 165827 beaded%2bfring%2bnecklace 4

In the same way, create 6x dangles with 13 hematite beads on and 6x dangles with 10 purple beads on. Arrange them as in the picture.

  4. Small 107027 2f2015 01 22 170112 beaded%2bfring%2bnecklace 5

Take 50cm of beading wire and thread on a crimp bead. Take the short end of the wire back through the crimp to create a loop and flatten the crimp with your chainnose pliers. Leave a short tail of wire.

  5. Small 107027 2f2015 01 22 170140 beaded%2bfring%2bnecklace 6

Thread on 100x hematite beads then begin alternating seed beads with the bead dangles, in the order we laid them out in. Once all the dangles are on, thread on another 100 beads.

  6. Small 107027 2f2015 01 22 170241 beaded%2bfring%2bnecklace 8

Finish by threading on another crimp bead, making a loop and flattening the crimp as we did in step 4. Make sure the tails of beading wire from creating the loops are tucking into the beads and not sticking out. Use one jump ring to attach the clasp to a loop and on the opposite loop to complete the necklace.
