About

These smooth, dreamy colors were inspired by the Pacific Ocean. I mixed naturally shaped vintage costume pearl beads with faceted glass briolettes in the lightest, barely there aqua color. If you’re using heavier beads, you may want to include fewer of them in your design. Just remember that an odd number of focal beads (three, five, or seven) creates a beautiful central pattern.

You Will Need (9 things)

  • Pliers
  • Seven glass briolette Bead(s)
  • 38 Freshwater or costume Pearl Beads
  • Seed Beads
  • Soft Flex Wire
  • Tape
  • Two Crimp Beads
  • Clasp
  • Beading Board

Steps (4 steps, 35 minutes)

  1. 1

Lay out your design in a symmetrical pattern, evenly spacing seven briolettes with two contrast pearl beads between each one. Arrange tiny seed beads between each of the larger beads throughout. Add 13 pearls on each side, each with a tiny seed bead in between, and end with pearls on each end of the necklace.

  2. 2

Cut a 24-in. piece of Soft Flex wire and then string the design onto the wire. Add tape to one end of the wire to hold the design in place.

  3. 3

Thread a crimp bead on the end of the wire that is not taped, add a clasp, and thread the wire back through the crimp and first few beads. Pull it taut and flatten the crimp bead, trimming the wire neatly.

  4. 4

Remove the tape and repeat on the second side to add the other half of the clasp.
