This cake goes down a treat with my work people. I make one for everyones birthday. Its extremely rich and is a total winner. You can also make the chocolate balls on their own.
Firstly, bake 2 of the cake mixes as per instructions
Cut each cake in half and fill with buttercream, then stack the two cakes on top of each other and again fill with buttercream.
Cover the outside of the cake in buttercream (smooth to form a base for decoration). Then using a piping bag and star nozzle create rows of stars until just the sides are covered.
To make balls on top: Bake the last packet of cake mix. Once cooked allow to cool. As soon as it is cool crumble into a bowl and add about 1-2 tablespoons of buttercream until it forms a firm dough. Roll into balls and dip in melted chocolate. Place on a sheet of non stick paper and decorate with sprinkles. Leave to set.
Once the chocolate balls have set place on the top of cake (you wont have used all the balls so set the spares to once side for a sneaky treat!)If needed secure them with a blob of buttercream.
Prep: lay grease proof paper over a flat baking tray. Melt the white chocolate in a bowl over a pan of hot water. Once melted pour into a piping bag. Pipe around the bottom of the cake. Now create any addtional details. I like to pipe numbers onto the baking tray so that they can go into the freezer then stuck onto the cake.
Your cake is now complete :) Enjoy!
