Found some scrap fabrics in my textile class in school- decided to put them into good use. They're quite easy to make and look awesome on your hair / clothes etc. I've made around 15 of them already...Pick the colours carefully- make sure they complement each other.. They're a bit messy ,but thats what I like about them :)

Ignore the speech bubbles- made them a little too small -_-.... Cut out an oval shape of fabric as a base for your flower. Cut out stripes from your scraps (they don't have to be perfect, you can also make them fray, to get a messy look, like I did).
Using a sawing machine, saw on your scrap strips creating loops, going around like the arrow shows.
Going around, make sure the "petals" from the inside are shorter than the ones from the outside. Also, make sure you completely cover the base of your flower.
Make a spiral out of your scrap stripe, to cover the ends of the loops and stitches. From felt( or any other fabric, I found felt the best for this job) cut out an oval shape for the back of the flower, to cover all the stiches, whip stitch it by hand.
To finish off, attach a hair clip or a brooch back, depending on what you would like to use your flower for. Enjoy :)
