This is a home made scarecrow. You could use any old clothing you have to dress the scarecrow.
This is a home made scarecrow. You could use any old clothing you have to dress the scarecrow.
Blow up a balloon. Cover with paper mâché. Allow to dry. Do another coat & allow to dry.
Cover with white kitchen paper. Allow to dry. You may need to do a second coat.
Burst the balloon. Cut a hole in the bottom of the paper.
Glue the paper mache ball to the pole. Allow to dry.
Paper mache around the head & neck to secure. Allow to dry.
Measure & cut the pole for the height you want. Measure & cut the pole for the shoulder width.
Make a hole in the vertical pole to push the shoulder pole through.
Paint the paper mâché head. It may need another coat of paint. Allow to dry.
Sew the arms & legs of the clothing closed.
Sew the waist of the trousers to the jumper/ shirt. Cut a hole in the back side of the trousers so the pole can fit through.
Paint the paper mâché with red paint if you want a red apple face.
Put the clothing onto the poles. Stuff the clothing with straw.
Glue the eyeballs onto the head. Add face details to the head.
Add elastic to the neck of the jumper/ top. Pull tight & secure it.
Add the hat & scarf to the scarecrow. Add some acorns around the neck area. If you wish to add some additional straw to the hat & scarf, do this now.
