Finished length: 16 inches, adjusts to 18 inches

If you prefer to make your necklace with one color of silk cord you will only need to purchase one package to make the necklace…and you’ll have some left over!

Steps (7 steps, 50 minutes)

  1. 1

Unwind your Jade silk beading cord from the card. Stretch the cord between your hands, working down the length of the cord until the fold marks begin to fall away.

  2. 2

Feed the needle end of your cord through a crimp tube and position the crimp tube 1 ½ inches from the end of the cord. Using your chain nose pliers flatten the crimp tube. Feed your needle through an 8-0 bead and a second crimp tube. Slide the bead and second crimp tube down into position next to the flattened crimp tube. Flatten second crimp tube.

  3. 3

Feed the needle end of the your cord through a crimp tube and position the crimp 1 inch away from the previous crimp and bead set. Flatten crimp. Feed your needle through a 6-0 bead and a second crimp tube and position next to the flattened crimp. Flatten second crimp. Repeat this, alternating beads until you have created a strand that is approximately 15 1/2 inches long.

  4. 4

Create the remaining four strands of beaded silk in the same manner with the following lengths: 17 inches, 18 inches, 19 inches, 20 inches, 21 inches.

  5. 5

Place a very small drop of glue inside one of the fold over ends. Place the end of each strand inside the fold over end and press each side in using a pair of chain nose pliers. Repeat on the other end of the strands using the second fold over end.

  6. 6

Using your chain nose pliers open on link on the chain. Remove the link from the chain and feed it through the loop on the lobster claw and through the loop on one of the fold over ends. Close securely. Attach the remaining chain to the other side of the necklace in a similar manner to create an extender chain.

  7. 7

Using your chain nose pliers open a 5 mm jump ring and use it to attach a 6-0 bead to the end link in the extender chain. Repeat with 2 8-0 beads on each side of the 6-0.
