Rustic Halloween Bunting

Waxed leaves, a craft knife and a little imagination

About

I saw lots of online blogs featuring autumn leaf projects, I planned to press some leaves and wax them and hang them up...but I didn't want to wait for them to press, couldn't find any gulf wax, then forgot to buy cheap candles at the shop so I improvised, a bit...a lot. I melted different coloured waxed crayons, covered the leaves and then decided to make Halloween decoration by cutting out letters and spooky silhouettes!

You Will Need (3 things)

  • Craft Knife
  • Crayons
  • Leaves

Steps (4 steps, 120 minutes)

  1. 1

Heat some water in a pan, while it heats chop up some crayons, whatever colours you like. Place a quiche tray or some other tin foil-type tray over the pan. Add the crayons, and watch them melt!

  2. 2

Dip leaves into the wax, I used the yellow as a 'base' and then dipped the ends in the purple or red...by the end I was mushing it all together! Let excess wax drip off then leave to dry on cling film

  3. 3

When leaves are dry, cut out letters and halloween themed shapes using a craft knife. If you wanted a v professional finish you could use stencils or templates, I didn't have the patience!

  4. 4

Tie the leaves onto some fishing line, string, ribbon or thread and hang up ready for the trick or treat-ers...
