Add a ruffle to a plain dish towel to coordinate with your decor.
Add a ruffle to a plain dish towel to coordinate with your decor.
Measure out a piece of fabric at least double the width of the towel.
Fold and iron a hem on the bottom and fold over the top following the note.
It should look like this. Sew the hem for the bottom.
Ruffle the fabric with a ruffler attachment or a gathering foot. If you don't have either, hand baste and gather by hand.
Sew the trim to the dish towel. If there is excess, trim it and fold over each end and sew a small hem.
Get ready to add ric-rac!
Pin the ric-rac over the sewn part so it doesn't show. Sew on the ric rac. i sewed it on by hand so it would look really nice, but hey, if you want to sew it on by machine, go for it!
Hang it up and revel in the cuteness of your kitchen! Side not: Please excuse the slight smudginess on the right side of the pics, later discovered as a rogue fingerprint!
