A nice simple amigurumi keyring - Robin the Bat Wonder! I got the inspiration for this while watching 'The Dark Knight Rises', and it spawned a whole range of characters, to be posted too. On top of that, I've arrange to sell some at a local gallery - here's hoping they prove popular! But cos I'm lovely here's how to make your own. Apologies for the lack of photos - I only thought to chart the progress of Batman!

On top of that, I've arrange to sell some at a local gallery - here's hoping they prove popular! But cos I'm lovely here's how to make your own. Instructions

  1. The Essentials: Hook: 3.5mm Wool: Batman: Black, grey, yellow, peach. Robin: Red, green, yellow, peach, black. Also needed: Batman: black felt. Robin: Yellow and black felt. Finished Size: 2” tall, 2-3” wide. Terms: CH = Chain SC = Single Crochet INC = Increase DEC = Decrease NB: I start my amigurumi using CH2 for simplicity, but if you prefer you can use a magic ring. The head and body are crocheted in one piece, in the round with continuous spirals.

  2. Body CH2 in green Round 1: 6sc into centre of 2nd stitch from hook [6] Round 2: INC around [12] Round 3: [1sc, INC] Repeat around [18] Switch to yellow Round 4: [2sc, INC] Repeat around [24] Switch to red Round 5 - 7: Sc around [24] Round 8: [2sc, DEC] Repeat around [18] Round 9: [1sc, DEC] Repeat around [12] Round 10: DEC around [6] Stuff firmly.Don’t worry about the stripe jog you’ll get as shown in the picture - we’ll be covering that with wings, so it’s actually a good indicator of the back of Robin! DON'T FINISH HERE - THERE'S MORE IN THE NEXT STEP!

  3. Switch to peach Round 11: INC around [12] Round 12: [1sc, INC] Repeat around [18] Round 13: [2sc, INC] Repeat around [24] Round 14 - 15: Sc around [24] Switch to black Round 16: Sc around [24] Round 17: [2sc, DEC] Repeat around [18] Round 18: [1sc, DEC] Repeat around [12] Round 19: DEC around [6] Finish off, stuff firmly and sew the hole closed.

  4. Robin mask CH7 in green Row 1: 6Sc starting in 2nd chain from hook. CH1 to turn. Row 2: 6Sc Finish leaving long tail for sewing. Once sewn on, sew two eyes in peach (or white) yarn.

Decoration To finish off Robin, grab the felt and cut a small black circle and glue on a small yellow 'R'. Also cut a large pair of yellow wings as shown (yes this photo is black because it's from Batman but the shape is the same!). Cutting the wings is easiest if you make a template first. You only need to do half since they're symmetrical - fold your felt in half, cut round your half template and you’ll get two matching sides.

  6. Small 020820121521

Sew or use a glue gun to attach them in place - the motif on his chest, and the wings on his back over the jog line. Add your keyring, and Robin the Bat Wonder is finished!
