OUT OF RECYCLED FROM BROWN PAPER BAG AND MAGAZINE CUTOUTS

This is a project that I learned at a Kid's Christmas Craft Class through that our local Parks and Recreations Dept. put on several years ago but with a smaller bag.

It can be risque, such as mine with the red painted lips being licked by a tongue, or goofy, funny, happy or serious...you are the designer and can make it be anything you want!

You Will Need (6 things)

  • Brown Paper Bag
  • Magazine(s)
  • Scissors
  • Glue Stick
  • Tape or
  • Stapler

Steps (6 steps, 10 minutes)

  1. 1

These are the presents, a popcorn bowl and a snack plate, for my Mom that I needed to wrap and found the brown paper shopping bag was the right size.

  2. 2

Here are the materials I used for this project.
    - Brown paper shopping bag
    - Pages from a magazine
    - Scissors
    - Glue stick
    - Tape or Stapler

The original project I made used craft foam for the antlers, googly eyes for the eyes and a red pom pom for the nose (this would be easier for younger children), but since I didn't have any of those, I had to improvise and just use magazine pages.

  3. 3

I cut out the lips from the magazine add.

From the same add I cut out the "whites" of the eyes making an archway shape from the side of the face so the shadow on the face looked like an eyelid.

The pupil of the eye is a smaller archway cut out of the black magazine page.

The nose is just a cut out circle from the red portion of the above magazine page.

  4. 4

To make the antlers, I traced around each of my hands on the black part of the magazine page.

  5. 5

You then take the bag and fold down the top and inch or so.

You then layout the pieces on the bag to see where you want to glue the pieces and the apply the glue with the glue stick. In this picture I am apply glue to the back edge of one of the antlers.

  6. 6

Here is a picture of the finished bag.

Just put the presents in the bag, fold the top of the bag back down again and tape it or staple it shut.
