This ring looks a little crazy, but if you are daring you can rock it. And it doesn't take a lot of effort, either! Follow these steps:
Remove the top rim from any kind of small plastic bottle. The softer the plastic, the better and easier to cut. (You can also use the bottom part of a plastic toy bowling pin, as I did in the green example.)
Make a whole bunch of parallel diagonal cuts, forming skinny strips that swirl around the bottle.
Twist each strip tightly around something like a metal poker.
The strip will curl up. Do this for all the strips, and voila! That is your flame.
Cut a piece of craft wire (between 8 and 12 inches long, depending on the height of your ring). Fold it in half and thread the two ends up through a ring blank.
Poke 2 holes in the bottom of your flame, and thread the flame onto the wire.
Twist the two wire ends together inside the flame.
Swirl the two wires around something skinny, to create decorative swirlies inside the flame.
Optional: you can dress the ring up further by adding a filigree or a silk flower onto the ring blank, before you add the flame.
You can also double up on the wire, to create 4 swirlies inside the flame. If you like, you can add beads onto the tips of the swirlies for even more detail.
