Take ribbon 1 ½” wide or wider, and make a bias fold with the beginning end of your ribbon.
Make another bias fold with the long end of the ribbon.
Fold the right hand side fold over the left hand side. This is your 1st petal of the cockade.
Fold the bottom portion of the ribbon at a right angle to form another bias. Lay this fold on top of the previous fold.
Repeat fold 1, again laying the right-hand bias over the left-hand bias. You now have 2 petals. Start tacking your petals together at the inner points where the petals meet. Keep repeating this process until you have 20+ petals.
Trim each end piece as demonstrated above and tuck into the backside of the corresponding petal. Join end pieces together to form a circle. Flip work upside down and you are done folding. Sew backing onto the wrong side and add a button to the center of the Cockade.
