Description

Sometimes called crab stitch, this is a lovely decorative stitch for an edging. It’s tricky because you work backward — that’s why it’s a “reverse” stitch.

Instructions

  1. Small 107128 2f2015 01 29 145042 76.1 johnpolak crochetskillbuilding

Chain 1, but do not turn.

  2. Small 107128 2f2015 01 29 145052 76.2 johnpolak crochetskillbuilding

Insert the hook under the 2 top loops in the first stitch to the right (for left-handed cro- cheters, to the left).

  3. Small 107128 2f2015 01 29 145503 76.3 johnpolak chrochetskillbuilding

Yarnover and draw up a loop. Don’t be tempted to draw the yarn through the loop on the hook, which is easy to do by accident! The new loop should be to the left of the loop on the hook (or right, for left-handed folks).

  4. Small 107128 2f2015 01 29 145126 76.4 johnpolak crochetskillbuilding

Yarnover and draw through the 2 loops on the hook to complete the rsc. For the next stitch, insert the hook in the next stitch to the right (or left, for left-handed crochet- ers) and repeat steps 3 and 4. The process twists the top 2 loops of the stitch; this is what forms the decorative edge.
