These Lotta from Stockholm shoes were already super cute--but I decided to add some extra oomph to them, in the form of chiffon ruffles. Now I look and feel like I've got cake on my feet. :) This is a simple method that can be used on any boring pair of sandals that you want to upcycle. And it was really quick too!

Now I look and feel like I've got cake on my feet. :) This is a simple method that can be used on any boring pair of sandals that you want to upcycle. And it was really quick too!
Watch the video tutorial! Or scroll down for step by step instructions.
Cut out a rectangle of chiffon or fabric you are using.
The length equals the length of the shoe. For my sandals, I measured from the strap around my toes to the strap around my ankles. The width depends on how extravagant you want the ruffles
Fold the fabric in half lengthwise, and sew down the seam.
You should have 2 tubes: flip them right side out.
Adjust the tubes so the seam is in the center.
Cut out a piece of elastic equal to the length of the front of the shoe. (mine went from one strap to the other)
Sew the elastic onto the seam of the tube of fabric.
You will have to stretch the elastic as you sew.
Dab drops of E6000 glue (or glue gun glue) to the ends of the elastic.
Then glue the ruffles onto the straps.
Tuck the ends under the straps.
Clip with binder clips to hold in place, and let the glue dry overnight, or per the product instructions.
Repeat all these steps on the other shoe.
Once the glue is dried, you're finished!
