Revamped Ruffled Chiffon Shoes
Simple way to upcycle and revamp old shoes.

These Lotta from Stockholm shoes were already super cute--but I decided to add some extra oomph to them, in the form of chiffon ruffles. Now I look and feel like I've got cake on my feet. :)
This is a simple method that can be used on any boring pair of sandals that you want to upcycle. And it was really quick too!

You Will Need (5 things)
- Chiffon
- Elastic
- E6000 Glue
- Sewing Machine
- Old Shoes
Steps (15 steps, 30 minutes)
-
1
Watch the video tutorial! Or scroll down for step by step instructions.
-
2
Cut out a rectangle of chiffon or fabric you are using.
-
3
The length equals the length of the shoe. For my sandals, I measured from the strap around my toes to the strap around my ankles.
The width depends on how extravagant you want the ruffles
-
4
Fold the fabric in half lengthwise, and sew down the seam.
-
5
You should have 2 tubes: flip them right side out.
-
6
Adjust the tubes so the seam is in the center.
-
7
Cut out a piece of elastic equal to the length of the front of the shoe. (mine went from one strap to the other)
-
8
Sew the elastic onto the seam of the tube of fabric.
-
9
You will have to stretch the elastic as you sew.
-
10
Dab drops of E6000 glue (or glue gun glue) to the ends of the elastic.
-
11
Then glue the ruffles onto the straps.
-
12
Tuck the ends under the straps.
-
13
Clip with binder clips to hold in place, and let the glue dry overnight, or per the product instructions.
-
14
Repeat all these steps on the other shoe.
-
15
Once the glue is dried, you're finished!
