This is my experience with resin. I'm addicted now! You can use these finished pieces to make jewelry, magnets, or whatever your heart desires! For the stuff in the middle I used cofffee beans, stickers, glitter, beads, and some monkey patches.

Description

This is my experience with resin. I'm addicted now! You can use these finished pieces to make jewelry, magnets, or whatever your heart desires! For the stuff in the middle I used cofffee beans, stickers, glitter, beads, and some monkey patches.

Instructions

  1. Small 8870

Gather your supplies. Cover your workspace, I used newspaper covered by contact paper. Make sure you have good ventilation!

  2. Small 8871

Using the mold release spray coat your mold very well.

  3. Small 8872

Follow the instruction on your resin container to make an activated mix. I used Castin' Craft Clear Casting Resin. I poured 3 ounces and added 5 drops of Castin' Craft Activator per ounce. Mix well for at least 60 seconds.

  4. Small 8873

Carefully pour a thin layer of the activated resin into molds. The bottom of the mold will be the face of your pieces. Don't fill the molds, just a small layer!

  5. Small 8874

Let the partially filled mold sit for 20 to 40 minutes. The longer you let it set the harder it will get. If it's too soft when you add your pieces they will sink.

  6. Small 8875

After they have hardened a bit add your pieces! I used tweezers to help me with placement.

  7. Small 8876

Mix another small batch of activated resin mix. Follow the directions from above. Pour this over the pieces. Use enough to cover the pieces but not over fill the molds.

  8. Small 8877

Now you just sit back and wait!

  9. Small 8878

After about 4 to 8 hours the resin should have hardened enough to hold the shape of the mold. Once they have pop them out of the mold onto wax paper so they can continue to cure completely.

  10. Small 8879

After 24 to 48 hours they will be completely cured and ready for use! Congrats!
