Red Velvet Donuts

Mini baked red velvet donuts with cream cheese glazes and meringue sprinkles

You Will Need (18 things)

  • For the red velvet donuts

  • 140 g Plain Flour
  • 140 g Sugar
  • 40 g Cocoa
  • ½ tsp Baking Soda
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • 125 ml Buttermilk
  • 60 ml Oil
  • 2 tsp Vanilla Paste
  • ½ tsp Vinegar
  • 1 Egg
  • Wilton's No-Taste Red Food Colouring
  • 100 g Cream Cheese
  • 75 g Icing Sugar
  • 2 tbsp Milk
  • 1 tbsp Lemon Juice
  • For the cream cheese glaze

  • Meringue pieces to sprinkle on top

Steps (10 steps, 45 minutes)

    Whisk together the plain flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda and salt.

    In another bowl, whisk together the egg, buttermilk, oil, vanilla, vinegar and red food colouring until you get a nice colour of red.

    Mix the flour mixture into the milk.

    Spoon the batter into a donut baking tray.

    Bake for 10 minutes at 180'C.

    Whisk together the cream cheese and icing sugar for the frosting.

    Stir in the milk and lemon juice.

    Dip each donut in the glaze

    Sprinkle the donuts with meringue sprinkles.

    Leave the glaze to set and serve!
