This is an old suitcase I found at a second hand shop. Be careful, as many of these really smell bad from being closed for a long time. Wash the entire case, and if it still smells, sprinkle baking soda all over the inside and wait a day or two...it will get the smell out!
This is an old suitcase I found at a second hand shop. Be careful, as many of these really smell bad from being closed for a long time. Wash the entire case, and if it still smells, sprinkle baking soda all over the inside and wait a day or two...it will get the smell out!
This is what the case looked like before the TRANSFORMATION....
This is the inside. I kept the mirror, and ripped everything out of the inside...I found an old curler ;( Then I washed it out and dried it, however it smelled terrible, so I sprinkled baking soda in it and let it sit for a day.
Here is the inside with everything ripped out - the white is the baking soda.
Measure the inside - the length and width, and do not forget the sides! Measure the top too! Cut out fabric the size of the bottom and top.
I may have over simplified this step... Hot glue the fabric into the inside of the case - there really isn't a right or wrong way to do this - but just make sure you use a lot of glue!
Then add some embellishments...I used the mirror that originally was in the case and hot glued it onto the top.
Cut out words, pictures, etc. from old magazines, newspapers, books, whatever you think would look good. This particular case is for dress up clothes, so I cut out lots of words from a fashion magazine.
Mod Podge (glue) the words and pictures onto the case. This is a fun step, just make sure you have newspaper under the case as you wouldn't want the case to stick to your favorite table.
Let dry and put ribbon around the outside handle. After it is dry spray with a glossy, clear acrylic sealer.
Here is the finished product! Now all you have to do is..........
.....Fill with your favorite BLINGS!
