Wear gloves and cut cans tops and bottoms off,the edges will be very jagged. Once the tops and bottoms are cut off cut the jagged edges, clean the cans and let dry. Cut different shapes out of the aluminum for your design. I used recycled Styrofoam for depth. I also found that if I colored the aluminum with sharpies and hot glued them in place. I found after time a few pieces became loose but there were very few. The picture was competed about 2 years ago and has been in our front bathroom with no issues with the coloring or glue.
