So, I have had this dresser for 20+ years and in those years, I have repainted it (white), and doodles on the sides with fabric paint (boredom), and when I moved into a new house this past Spring, I decided that I was going to repaint it brown with a teal blue. Well...I got the base colors down, but when I started to stencil in a motiff, it seeped through and I was tired of dealing with it. Therefore, I saw an original posting on Pinterest concerning revamping your old(er) dresser with fabric. Painting is optional, and that is why I set it for 5 hours project time. If you aren't worried about painting, then the project will take much less time than that. I bought 3.5 yards of fabric (you can see I chose different fabric, same design, different color). The top drawer is where I sewed the pieces together (I used a sewing machine). I also happened to use the sewing machine to sew the poly fill to the fabric. Please note: You don't HAVE to have the poly fill behind the fabric, but I wanted to give it some depth. If you do use the polyfill, please make sure that you can still close your dresser drawers. Staple the fabric/poly fill to the edges of the dresser. I bought the knobs (again, wanted to be different, not have the same knobs) at Hobby Lobby. I was lucky in that they were 50% off! They are cuter and CHEAPER than going to Home Depot or Lowes.
