You are HILARIOUS! This tutorial definitely wins the prize for being the most entertaining! :oD Once I have my giggling under control, I'm most certainly going to try this project. I was wondering what I could do with all the sad, lonely, leftover pieces of fabric I couldn't bear to throw away. lol Thanks very much for also showing how to attach new strips when you reach the end of the current strips.
this is great - have been meaning to make one for the last 30 years so this could be my Christmas holiday project... optimistically assuming that I'll have the time!! Tee hee!!! Only discovered this site yesterday and can't seem to concentrate on anything else!! thx for sharing, Tina
LOL... great job and great tut. I see myself with this teeth braiding bit AND the toe hold... Hey, Multi tasking with body parts takes talent!...LOL ;-)~
I think I saw something similar somewhere on youtube.

It's not braiding but knotting and you take the ends through the part of the rug you already have. So you don't have to sew it all together in the end.
Since I saw it I wanted to make it, however I still haven't gotten to it yet. And most of my scraps are weird shaped or ravel too much.
I love your version though. I like the rainbow colors.
I'm already working on one of these for my dorm room right now- such awesomeness. It's cool to see that other people are as crazy as me to try to tackle such a time consuming project.

Wow I love this tutorial to pieces. And I'm glad to see there is another human being in the world who holds things with her feet. Glad I'm not a freak. Hahaha. I am making a rug like this right now, I like yours much better though.
This is an amazing tutorial.. I remember my grandmother buying a rug from someone years ago, and the lady said that she had made it from sheets... now I see how she did it!
Your directions are great! I am happy to see I'm not the only crazy person who ties stuff to their toes to hold it - that's what I used to do when I did macrame years ago!
