This was inspired by my friedns, and I descided to give it to her for a birthday gift. It's made completely from recylced and old t-shirts and extra fabric I had lying around. Here's some steps to help. :)

Instructions

For the template, try online. I used one from an old children's book. Really simple to make yourself, just cut out the shape you want with about 2cm spare. It will look really fat, but that's okay. You need the extra for seam allowance etc. You start with 2 layers of stretch t-shirt material, lay them flat one on top of the other, and then pin your template to the fabric.

Once you've cut the 2 layers out, you stitch with a simple straight line all around the body (remembering your seam allowance, whatever that may be), leaving a large-ish gap to stuff. Then, turn inside out and being stuffing from the head down, or to wherever you left the gap. Don't over stuff, as it may be too much strain on the doll. Make sure the stuffings eveny spread out. The, stitch up the hole at the end.

Once you've stuffed and stitched the body, you need to give it some hair. My firend's got aubern hair, so I used some wool, cut about 15 lengths of about 13cm (cchange for different lengths) and then sewed the hair down in a middle parting down the top-centre of the head. The I used some old buttons for eyes, and stiched some little red lips on. For extra-cuteness, I added a little heart. :)

This next step consists of making the clothes. Now, these are just some ideas from fabrics left over, but I'm sure you can come up with more, depending on the persons taste, obviously. I made a punkish Nancy style dress from some old black t-shirt material, with some saftey pins for extra effect. I made a blue, flary skirt that could be worn over the dress. Also, a tartan purse and some jeans, and a belt from some ribbon

And so you have it! A rag-doll with a difference. An amazing present that you couldn't buy in the shops! Have fun xx
