I made myself some sketchbooks because I don't have enough money to buy myself a moleskine right now, haha. (P.S. The first time I made one, it turned out kinda crappy, so be prepared to be a little disappointed on the first try.)

For the front and back cover of your little notebook, cut out part of a cover from a magazine (or an old comic that you never read, even) and the back of an old, used notebook. If you don't have any old notebooks, just use another magazine. Make them as big/small as you want them to be. Make sure they're the same size, though.
Now, get some paper. It can be either plain printer paper or notebook paper. Depends on what you want to make. Get 4 (or more!) pieces of paper and fold them like a hamburger.
Get either your front or back cover and trace it on your paper.
Cut the paper smaller than what you just traced. Cut the corners to make it round if you want. Make the corners of the front/back covers round, too.
This step is optional! Put tape all over your front cover. I don't know, I just like putting tape on stuff. Plus, it won't rip as easily now!
Make sure everything looks okay and staple everything together! Make sure the staples are as close to the edge as possible. Be careful, I almost cut myself by trying to take off a staple that wasn't stapled on right. :(
FINAL STEP: decorate it with cute cat stickers
