Just a piece of plywood, sanded down with beveled edges. I laid a lace cloth over it, and spraypainted black to leave a stencil. Then I took a whale recycled from a show poster I got for free at Silver Platters. Mod-Podge and then a clear coat, of course. :) The unit is held up by two wreath hangers on the back, so it hangs level over the back of my bedroom door. McLendon's hardware only had two black hooks left, but when they get their next shipment, my purse organizer will have four. :) If you plan on making your own, I'd recommend putting some padding on the back to prevent from banging around and making loud sounds every time you open your door.
