This is a great snack for a fall day. I made this batch for a trip to the apple orchard tomorrow with my daughter's preschool class. I originaly came up with this caramel corn recipe to make a peanut free snack for a holiday party. It's tasty and fun to make.
This is a great snack for a fall day. I made this batch for a trip to the apple orchard tomorrow with my daughter's preschool class. I originaly came up with this caramel corn recipe to make a peanut free snack for a holiday party. It's tasty and fun to make.
Recipe 1 cup butter 2 cups brown sugar 1 tsp salt 1/2 cup light corn syrup or honey 1 tsp baking soda assorted candy - we love candy corn, mini marshallows, sprinkles, and m&ms.
Pop 8 cups or 2 bags of microwave popcorn. Make enough to fill a 13x9 greased pan. Place the popcorn in a 200 degree oven.
Bring butter, sugar, salt, and syrup to a rolling boil (a boil you cannot stir down). Boil for 5 minutes. Use a heavy bottom pan so that the mixture will not burn.
Once the mixture boils for 5 minutes, remove from heat. Add baking soda. It gets foamy like the photo. You can also add vanilla for a toffee flavored popcorn. If you want a fruity flavor you can add a packet of jello or kool aid.
Stir the hot mixture onto the popcorn. Stir until the popcorn is completely coated. Keep it in the over for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. After 1 hour, remove from the oven and add your candy.
