Description

Made in the Japanese yo-yo style but puffed up.

Instructions

  1. Small puff1 1273380524

I used a 45 mm Clover yoyo maker for my project but if you don't have one just cut out a fabric circle in the size you want using a cup or something round with a circular shape as your template. Your completed flower will be half the diameter. Do a running stitch on the edge.

  2. Small puff2 1273380845

Once you've stitched the edge, pull the thread just a little to gather the fabric.

  3. Small puff3 1273381221

Stuff your yo yo with fiberfill and close up the hole. Knot securely. Don't cut the thread.

  4. Small puff4 1273381296

This is a side view of the puff - a little odd looking but it shows the gathered bottom of the puff and the top. Flatten you puff and bring your needle and poke it through the top center of the ball and out through the gathered bottom. Do this 5 times, evenly spaced and you'll get petals...

  5. Small puff5 1273381659

...that look like this from the top. Tie a secure knot and if you have enough thread, don't cut it.

  6. Small puff6 1273381736

For the beads in the center of your flower, bring your needle back through the gathered bottom and straight up to where the petals intersect in the center. Thread a bead and go back down. Knot. Do this for each bead your add. Cut thread and you're done. Lots of stuffing will make a rounder flower.
