Princess On The Pea Matchbox

inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's Fairy Tale

About

I got the idea when I had to decorate a 250 ct matchbox for a swap on swapbot. The theme was sender's choice - and it had to be filled with embellishments. Ive considered the receiver's taste - and my want to send variety - hence the somewhat ecclectic look;).

You Will Need (10 things)

  • Foam Sheets
  • Patterened Paper
  • Ribbon
  • decorative Pin(s)
  • paper, felt Flowers
  • Feathers
  • 250 ct Matchbox
  • Bubble Wrap
  • of the princess Picture
  • Brad(s)

Steps (7 steps, 30 minutes)

  1. 1

Ive used a big (250 ct) matchbox. I had already decided on the Princess on the Pea-theme, so when I looked for a matchbox in my drawers and found this with Hans Christian Andersen, I knew it was fate;).

  2. 2

I filled the drawer with feathers - and since a princess is going to sleep on it - some flowers.

  3. 3

For bed posts I used decorative pins wrapped with ribbons.

  4. 4

I wanted to keep the image of Hans Christian Andersen so I chose to wrap the box with a broad wire ribbon.

  5. 5

And now for the pea; I used a green brad.

  6. 6

Then I made mattresses of bubble wrap and used brads as springs. I put 3 such in the pile of different patterned paper and foam sheet on top of the box.

  7. 7

Finally the Princess was put to bed - unfortunately she didnt sleep well at all;).
