About
My friend Kaylin found herself crowned Princess of Amtgard Northern Lights the right before her birthday *unexpectedly* So the first event she'll be officially Princess happens to be our Masquerade ball and I wanted to make her something fun for that event (Dec 3rd)

You Will Need (6 things)
- 1 Plastic Container That Fits On Your Head
- 1 hand Sewing Needle
- 25 in Decorative Cording
- sewing Thread to match
- 8 in Sheer Fabric
- 4 Eyelets and a set
Steps (16 steps, 60 minutes)
-
1
Find a clear plastic container that fits on your head. (or is Very close to fitting)
(doesn't need to be clear if your fabric is not sheer)
-
2
Cut Rim off of container...
Take small snips it helps keep from cutting it crooked. -
3
I know I'm going to be adding eyelets and elastic cording to the back so I went ahead and cut a slit all the way to the bottom.
-
4
cut off bottom of container... again small snips makes this smoother.
-
5
now you have a loop of plastic...
mine was slit so it could lace in back. -
6
making out the crown - I wanter a sort of wave pattern, The more complicated the harder it will be to sew around, however we are hand sewing so just do what ever your comfortable with. Go ahead and use indelible black markers
Also mark holes for anything you plan to put through the plastic, I had 4 eyelets in the back.
-
7
cut along your lines.
-
8
as your going for a clear crown
Acetone aka fingernail polish remover and a cotton ball or pad will clean off most kinds of markers. -
9
all clean
-
10
ok if you feel along the edges you'll find their ruff, may be sharp... a nail file should be able to smooth them right out.
-
11
No you need about 8-9 inches of some sort of organza... It comes in many colors I just happen to have this Purple that matches the decorations I'm making for the masked ball.

So you take a strip of fabric fold it over the flat edge of the crown, then sew a line ---- tracing the curves of the crown. Cut off the excess leaving yourself 3/4 inch or so seam allowance.
Then whip stitch around the line of stitching, this will create a lip of fabric that you can attach your edge too.(if your not planning to sew on a trim, you do the same thing only instead of whipping around the seam allowance making the lip you need to sew it while finding it over and stitching it down along the inside of the crown.

Put in any eye lets or details before adding the final edge - I again whip stiched the lip of the fabric but this time was sure to sew in a bit of the trim.
--- The cording I used had wire in it, making it bendable, allowing me to make nice sharp looking points. -

here you can see how shiny it is... with the flash
-
15
and with out the flash you can see how Clear it really is.

And This is my Dork self holding it to my head while looking for the gold elastic cording I think I know I have.
---You think I would put the camera and Crown down...but no---*Happy Birthday Princess Kaylin of Amtgard Northern Lights
