Measure, mark and cut 2 panels 43 in x 24 in (107.5 cm x 60 cm) from main fabric. Next, measure, mark and cut 2 panels 43 in x 9 in (107.5 cm x 22.5 cm) from contrasting fabric.
With right sides facing, pin ribbon between main and contrasting fabrics. Seam panels together 1/4 in (.5 cm) from the edge.
With right side of fabric facing, fold ribbon toward larger panel and press seam flat.
Finish pillowcase with french seaming as follows: fold fabric in half perpendicular to the ribbon seam so that wrong sides are facing. Match seams and stitch together 1/8 in (3 mm) from the edge.
Remove excess seam allowance fabric at the corners opposite ribbon attachment by clipping corners diagonally 1/8 in from seam stitching. Do not over trim as this will compromise seams when turning points!
Now turn work inside out and press again along stitched seam. Pin and re-seam 1/2 in (1.25 cm) from the first seam.
Next, fold the unfinished edge of the smaller contrasting panel to the inside so that it overlaps joined seam ¾ in (2 cm) and press a crease into the fold. Turn cut edge of fabric under so it aligns with the stitched seam, pin in place, press again edge stitch this seam to finish. Repeat process to complete the pair.
Please note: This pattern is written for a standard pillowcase. Since all cases are the same width, simply add 4 in (10 cm) to the length of your main fabric for a queen size set and 10 in (25 cm) for a king size set.
