Create an underwater world with these cheerful fish, crafted from Powertex, Stryofoam and paperdeco. Make different types and faces for a fun effect and grow your very own shoal of underwater friends. Use the fish to decorate a nursery or a themed party!
Take a Stryofoam ball with a 12 or 15cm diameter. Cut a piece of Powertex paperdeco to size, large enough to cover the ball.
Spread the transparent Powertex over the ball and cover it in the sheet of paperdeco. Cover the paperdeco in Powertex again.
Pin the paper down on one side using eye pins to start sculpting the tail.
Cut out two small pieces of paperdeco and cover them in Powertex. This will form the fins.
We will make the eye sockets using two little pieces of paperdeco. Cover these in the Powertex too, and stick the googly eyes below them.
Use the same technique to sculpt the mouth.
To make spines, thread beads onto eye pins. Stick these into the fish as you see fit.
Cut a piece of hemp cord and pin it to the top of the fish with an eye pin. Secure it down well with Powertex.
Once everything is thoroughly dry, you can hang the fish from the cord.
