You Will Need (8 things)
- 1 Yellow Giant Sponge
- 1 Spray Paint A.K.A. Your Desired Cake Color
- 1 Card Stock Or File Folders
- 1 Piping Bag Or Any Baggie
- Knife
- Exacto Knife
- Newspaper Or Used Magazines
- Latex or silicone Calking
Steps (8 steps, 60 minutes)
-
1
Cut Your sponge in half
-
2
Now you cut each half diagonally. This is where the cake slice look comes from.
-
3
With your exacto or box cutter cut a wedge out of the middle of the good side.
Set up newspaper or used magazines around your work area, this project can get pretty messy.
Then give that side, top, bottom and sides a coat of spray paint.
Let dry and apply a second layer of Spray paint. (Repeat this step until the cake slice is the desired color)
-
4
The easiest way to make a hard side to write a message and address your postcard: Flip the postcard upside down on the cut side and trace it onto card stock or file folders.
-
5
Cut out pieces and glue directly on or design a background and then glue on.
-
6
I cut out a simple design and spray painted it to give all my postcard a more uniform appearance.
-
7
Fill your piping bag or baggie(cut off one corner) with the silicone or latex calking. Then carefully start piping the calking "icing" onto the sides, top and middle groove.
Calking can be very messy and difficult to work with, I recommend you look up how to wash off calking before you even get it out.
Set them up to dry so the calking doesn't glue themselves together or to your newspaper.

Enjoy your cake! Mailing them isn't the only way to have fun with them ; )
