For some reason I never threw old pillows out. I found this one still lying around in the apartment and decided to turn it into a scatter cushion.
What is great about this, is that you can decide what size you would like the cushion to be. I made mine rectangular and cut off about a 1/3 of the pillow.
Pin the open side. I had to re-pin the seam because it was to bulky making it difficult to sew. So try to compress the filling as much as possible, and pin the seam so that it is rather wide.
1 new cushion
Cut circles out of felt, one circle being a bit bigger that the other. Now cut 3 'v'-shapes into the edge of each circle.
Cut a piece of fabric, a little bigger that the size of the cushion, to allow space to sew seams. Determine where to place each poppy on the cushion and mark the center point of each.
Sew a stem pattern from each point marked, to the bottom edge of the fabric.
Place the smaller flower shapes on top of the bigger ones and sew them to the top of the stems
Sew about 5-6 black beads in the center of each flower
To make the pillow case, cut 2 extra pieces of fabric, the same width as the one with the poppies on, but they need to be shorter. Also, for the newly cut pieces one has to be shorter than the other (these two pieces will overlap over the back of the cushion)
sew everything together, also sewing seams for the overlapping parts.
Turn pillowcase inside-out and place your cushion inside.
Here is my Poppy scatter cushion on my couch with the other felt flower pillowcase that I made. :)
