Great idea!! Whenever I see those lovely, expensive yarns, on clearance I can't resist buying it. Over the past several years, I have bought a lot of yarn, but not a lot of one color/type, so I am always looking for creative & innovative yarn projects that incorporate a variety of colors and yarns.
How adorable and fluffy soft that looks. Great idea! May suggest using Scotch Guard to help keep it clean. You use several thin coats, letting it dry in between. To wash it I would fill your bathtub with enough lukewarm water to cover then some gentle detergent like Woolite and just gently agitate it a little with your hand. Then rinse with cool water and lay flat or hang to dry.
You can make them winding the yarn around cardboard, tying them off and cutting. But, I highly recommend the pom maker. You can get them for about $6 or less if you have a coupon from JoAnns.
I have a HUGE stash of yarn I should get rid of/use before I have to move in October... and I think this would be the perfect project for it (because I don't want to knit most of it!).
Plus it will look fabulous in our new apartment...
Nobody O. If you're going to use a large piece of fabric instead of a rug grid, I suggest using canvas as it's heavier. You'll probably need to use a small hole punch to make holes so you can thread the poms into. Can't wait to see how it turns out!
thank you!!!
