I had a lot of pom poms. Then, I saw the idea of a pom pom rug on Pinterest, but I did not want a rug. I thought of making a smaller and no-sew version of the project and it turned out perfectly! Now, I can use these Pom Pom Plate Mats for the plate that I use for my keys. I love how this mat gives my home a pop of color!

First, Trace and cut out a circle shape from your piece of cardboard. This will be the base of your mat.
Next, Gather several pom poms and your glue gun. It is best to use pom poms that are all the same size.
With the hot glue gun, glue pom poms onto one side of the cardboard circle. Make sure to cover the whole circle with pom poms.
If you realize that you do not have enough pom poms to cover the whole cardboard circle, trace and cut out a smaller circle on the other side of the cardboard circle to make less area for pom poms.
You can also use smaller pom poms to fill in any gaps at the edges of the circle.
When you cover the whole circle with pom poms, Take 1-2 jumbo pipe cleaners and hot glue them to the edges of the cardboard circle.
Now, you can use your mat for any cute little plates or bowls. I use these as places to put keys, jewelry, and change. Enjoy your new creation!
Also, you can alter this project as you like! Maybe you want to try using pom poms that are all the same color, or use a different shape for your mat base
