Make yourself a unique cameo necklace. I have made a skull with roses, but use your imagination to make your own personal statement, following the same basic method.
Make yourself a unique cameo necklace. I have made a skull with roses, but use your imagination to make your own personal statement, following the same basic method.
First of all, gather together all the items you need on a smooth clean surface: Pendant setting Polymer clay red, black, green and white Shaping tools ( I use wooden cocktail sticks with one end blunted)
Take a small piece of white polymer clay about the size of a baked bean and shape like this:
Using cocktail stick, mark mouth and teeth, a triangle for nose and round hollows for eyes. Make this first and lay aside to avoid getting any of the darker colours contaminating it.
Take some red polymer clay, and shape roughy to fit into setting
Place into setting and gently coax into shape....this is easier if you use a setting with a solid back. Mine is hollow, so I have to be extra careful!
Gently lay the skull in position and press lightly into place
Make tiny leaves from green clay, and tiny roses by making long flat strips and rolling them into a rose-like shape, gently pace in position and press lightly into place. Roll out a long thin sausage of green polymer clay for vines
Bend and twist vines, and place in postion, pressing gently into place Now put it all into oven at 110 degrees C, for 30 minutes
Take from oven, allow to cool, and remove cameo from setting ( it will be loose, but may need eased out with a pin if you have used a setting with a solid back)
Spray cameo with clear gloss varnish
Glue cameo into place using 2 - part epoxy glue
Hang on a black velvet ribbon. Finished !
