Find a big 'ol button down shirt and transform it into a just the right amount of flirty shirt.
Find a big 'ol button down shirt and transform it into a just the right amount of flirty shirt.
Start with a big button down shirt with a fabric and pattern you like.
Cut off the collar and the sleeves.
Measure and mark the distance from your shoulder to your waist add a half inch seam allowance.
Use the marks to cut your new waistline.
Pin, sew and trim the sides to fit.
Add 1/2 inch darts to the bodice front and back.
Trim the sides of the bottom of the shirt to fit.
Right sides together, pin and sew the new side seams.
Use the longest machine stitch to baste around the top of the bottom portion of the shirt.
Pull the bobbin thread to gather bottom portion of the shirt. With right sides together, pin and sew the bottom portion of the shirt to the bodice, matching sides and centers.
Cut open the tops of the sleeves.
Press the raw edges under twice and stitch on each side.
Cut off the top of the sleeve. With right sides together, pin and sew the sleeve back into the armhole with the slit on top.
Cut the newly desired neckline.
Fold under the neckline raw edges twice, press and stitch.
