My son is a Pokemon fanatic! So for his 9th birthday, my 21year old and I set out to make him a special cake. We worked on it for 2 days and when we were finished we celebrated his birthday a day earlier as we could not wait to try the cake! LOL. We used a cinamon swirl cake mix. Baked the cake in 2 bowls to get the round ball, and a square brownie pan for the base. We covered the cake pieces with buttercream icing before wrapping in fondant. This was our first time ever making and using fondant! The ball was a little big for the cake, and sat a little lopsided as it was so heavey, but it turned out awesome for our first attempt! (We found the characters on ebay, but I am sure you can find them at local stores too.) Tasted heavenly too!
