i had a little money to spend on fabric so i found this great wool plaid and bought it without any idea what to do with it. the project took awhile because truthfully i had no idea what i was doing and constantly changed my mind about what it would look like. :3

First i had to dye my white lace black, i used black Rit dye, i only stewed it for about 30min so i got a dark grey. if you want a full black an hour should do it
cut a length of fabric that is about ten inches wide and fold it over lengthwise. it should be able to wrap around your hips with 9 inches to spare
sew the edge and one end, trimming all extra fabric, turn it inside out and sew the remaining end shut. This end it the "messy" end
the fabric for the skirt should be around three times a loose measure of your hips. To pleat the top tuck an inch of fabric under both sides of each pleat. once your done sew the ends together. you should be able to slip this part of the skirt on and off but it should not fall off your hips.
now sew the top of the strip of cloth to the top of the skirt. do not sew the ends of the cloth together, they should have a 7-8 inch overlap.
there should be a small gap between where you have sewn the ends of the strip of cloth. the messy end should not be overlapping the other.
your skirt should look something like this. put the skirt on and pull the overlapping end of the cloth over the other end until you have a snug fit. Mark the strip, this will show you where to put the button and the button hole.
add lace to the edge and an extra button on the overlapping part of the strip (it adds extra cuteness X3!!) and your done!!!
