Hints and tips For folding, pleating and ruffling techniques, wider ribbons are the best choice. Use a ruler if you would like to create perfectly even pleats.

Instructions

Using regular, loose pleats, fold and pin in a circle, leaving room in the centre for more rows. To begin, only pin your first row until you are close to meeting back where you began.

Sew along the bottom edge of the pleats, carefully removing the pins one by one as you go. The pleats should now look loose and ruffled.

Begin pinning your next row of pleats in the same manner as the first row. Make sure you’re decreasing the size of your centre circle so you can see the previous layer of pleats easily along the outer edge.

Sew around the inner edge as you did before, leaving you with two pretty rows of pleats and just a small centre circle to fill.

Without pins this time, carefully fold and sew your ribbon until you work your way to the centre. Tuck your edge under and stitch down to secure at the very centre of your flower.
