This is a great way to recycle the bags your newspapers come in or any grocery bags or department store bags.
This is a great way to recycle the bags your newspapers come in or any grocery bags or department store bags.
First we must cut the bags. It takes several so start saving up. I use the bags the newspaper comes in but any plastic bag will work. Cut the bags in a continuous circle and wind up onto a piece of cardboard or such just like working with yarn.
To make the belt, chain ever how wide you'd like your belt to be using the plastic bags, add two extra chains and turn. Double crochet in the third chain from the hook and continue double crocheting across. At the end turn, chain two and double crochet in each of the previous double crochets. Continue this until you reach the length you'd like your belt to be.
Make the flower: using crochet thread of your choice chain 8 and slip stitch in the beginning chain to form a ring. Chain 3 and make 2 double crochets in the center then chain one make 3 double crochets in the center of the ring, do this 4 times then chain 1 and slip stitch in the third chain of the beginning, so you'll have 5 sets. Chain 1, single crochet in the last chain 1 space. Chain 6 and single crochet in the next chain 1 space, does this 4 times then chain 6 and slip stitch in the beginning single crochet. Chain 1 and single crochet in the same stitch. Make 10 double crochets in the next loop, single crochet in next space and then 10 double crochets in next loop, single crochet in next space and continue until you've finished the flower. Chain the same amount minus 2 that you did for the width of your belt. Single crochet in all chains, turn and repeat 3 more rows. Attach to the back of the flower using a tapestry needle and yarn.
Slip the flower onto the belt, put the belt on and slide the other end of the belt through. You're finished, hope you enjoy.
