Break off a piece of air-dry clay and roll it into a ball between your palms.
Hold the ball in one hand and place the opposite thumb in the middle of the ball.
With your thumb and forefinger, begin pinching the sides of the clay, turning it as you go.
Add tiny splashes of water, when needed, if the clay starts to crack or harden.
Continue turning and pinching until you achieve your desired pot shape. Don’t make the pot less than 1⁄4 inch thick.
Take the bamboo skewer and poke three separate holes, evenly spaced, near the top edge of the pot.
Set the pot on parchment paper and allow to dry for 24 hours.
Decide the length you want your pot to hang. Measure out three pieces of string. Each one should be twice the length of your desired hanging height (so if you want the pinch pot to hang 12 inches, cut three pieces of string each 24 inches long).
Thread each piece of string through a single hole, pull all pieces together at the top and tie together.
