I love living in Los Angeles, because it allows me to take advantage of the nice weather and attend a lot of outdoor events, and have many opportunities for picnics (outdoor movie nights, beach trips, enjoying parks and gardens, museums, wineries, Concerts in the Park, etc.). You can make these cute Los Angeles themed food containers to use for a variety of L.A. inspired meals. Two salads that would be easy to transport and great for Summer picnics are Cobb Salad and a Copycat version of Mendocino Farms' Curried Couscous (links to recipes below). Make these salads with a couple of delicious sandwiches, and pair with a bottle of wine or beverage of your choice. My Grandmother was born there, so it would be nice to see where she came from. Also, I love the bagpipes, they touch my soul.

I found these containers at the dollar store. Make sure you purchase containers that seal correctly and are spill proof. Pick your theme and draw with the black medium point sharpie directly on the container. It doesn't have to be perfect. Sketch your pictures and write your words of choice. I did one with Hollywood/Santa Monica Pier and the other with the song lyrics to "I Love L.A." by Randy Newman.
Then, use a metallic sharpie to highlight certain pictures or words on your container. If you'd like, use acrylic paint to accent some of your drawings, as well. Let dry.
Paint the outside container with clear glitter paint on the whole thing or just certain parts that you want to cover. Let dry.
Seal with Dishwasher safe Mod Podge, let dry required amount of time listed on the bottle. Wash container and fill with your favorite picnic food!
